Bollywood’s Bhaijaan, Salman Khan’s marriage has been one of the most asked questions in the industry. But very few of us know that Salman was almost married to his ex-lover Sangeeta Bijlani. After becoming a superstar, the private life of Salman Khan has been a subject of much sensational discussion. None of his affairs gathered headlines like his love affairs with Sangeeta Bijlani did. The couple not just dated each other for over a decade but were on the verge of getting married until Sangeeta caught Salman red-handed with another woman.
Long Long ago, the young Salman fell in love with Sangeeta Bijlani who made her Bollywood debut in 1987 with Qatil, opposite Aditya Pancholi.
Salman and Sangeeta held each other tight for more than 10 years or supported each other in every up and down. The couple even decided to marry each other.
According to reports, Salman and Sangeeta had also decided on a date for the wedding on May 27, 1994. In an interview held in 1993, Salman had said, “Yes, I plan to marry. When the time comes, I will. It could be to Sangeeta (Bijlani) or to anybody else.” It was said that the wedding invites were also printed.
While the preparation of their wedding were going tight, the actress caught Salman red handed with another girl.
And the actor even confessed it was true when he showed up on Koffee with Karan. When Karan asked if the wedding was off as she caught him, the actor tried to sidestep the question before accepting, “Yeah, kind of.” He added that, “I get caught. I’m stupid.” He then changed his tune and said, “What are you talking about?”
And according to media report, the girl Salman cheated with on Sangeeta was none other but Somy Ali.
Soon after their break-up, Sangeeta met India's former cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin during an ad shoot, and later they met in many filmy parties and events.
During that time, Azharuddin was married to Naureen and had two kids Mohammad and Mohammad Ayazuddin. But when things got serious between the cricketer and the actress, Azharuddin broke the news to Naureen that led to divorce. It was reported that Naureen parted ways after receiving heavy alimony.
