Shilpa who made headlines for her performance in Baazigar and the Khiladi Kumar of the industry-first met on the set of the 1994 film Main Khiladi Tu Anari.

According to the reports, Shilpa was madly in love with Akshay, and both of them got engaged by going to a temple in Mumbai but history repeated itself when Twinkle arrived in the life of Akshay. It is also said that Akshay was engaged to Twinkle but due to their previous relationships, Twinkle broke the engagement with him for the first time.
It was the shoot of Main Khiladi Tu Anari and Insaaf, when Shilpa for the first time realized that Akshay is cheating on her. That broke her heart and made her break her engagement.
Akshay, being in a relationship with Twinkle, remained silent on the breakup but Shilpa went on to make many serious allegations against him.
During an interview, Shilpa said: "Akshay used and cheated me twice. When he found someone else, he shunned me. I am lucky that I have the strength to come out of it but I will never forgive him, nor will I work with him again. Shilpa said during a conversation, Akshay Kumar gets engaged to girls to win their trust. He takes his girlfriend to the temple late at night and promises to marry her in front of God, but as soon as someone new comes in his life, he forgets all the promises and vows."
