BMW has really been pushing the envelope in recent times with its M series of performance-based cars and it is being paid dividends. The idea caters to the hardcore purists as the regular luxury sedans are dialled to maximise their potential with mechanical upgrades and performance obsessive powertrains along with exterior enhancements. With muscular proportions and massive power, the BMW M8 is a bully among boulevard cruisers. This badass supercar is based on the standard BMW 8-series—and is available as a coupe, convertible, and Gran Coupe. Every version of the M8 boasts a mighty twin-turbo V-8 that pairs with a specialized all-wheel-drive system; it includes a rear-drive-only mode that's perfect for hanging the tail out. Unlike the more affordable but less powerful BMW M850i, the M8 is made for those who desire the full money when it comes to the company's M division. The M8 starts at a staggering price point of 2.18 crore.

The BMW M8 comes with an impressive engine with staggering numbers. To give you a preview, it’s a 4.4-litre M Twin Turbo V8 Petrol engine, which is capable of churning out 591bhp and an impressive 750Nm of torque. It comes mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox as a standard fitment. Moreover, it also matches the current BS6 emission standards.

Equipment includes BMW's Laser light headlight units, 19-inch alloy wheels, and the slender LED taillamps on the exterior front. You also get the latest iDrive system with support for wireless Apple Carplay, a 16-speaker Harman-Kardon audio system, a 360-degree camera, an all-digital instrument cluster, and four-zone climate control.

Like the 8 Series, the interior of the M8, too, offers stupendous luxury and a driver-oriented cockpit. The cabin is fitted with top-notch materials all around. The layout, however, is a typical BMW affair, which does steal away its novelty. Regardless, the BMW M8 has a very special cabin and extremely comfortable seats, at least for the front two.

These are official claims made by BMW but in a recent test conducted by Car and Driver, the 2020 M8 Competition took just 2.5 seconds to reach 96 kmph. The publication uses one-foot rollout while testing a car’s acceleration as timing gear does not kick in until the car moves the first foot.

BMW M8 goes head to head with other luxury and racing cars such as BMW 7 Series M 760Li xDrive, which is priced at Rs.2.46 Cr. Mercedes-Benz S-Class Maybach S560, which is priced at Rs.2.23 Cr and Audi A8 55 TFSI, which is priced at Rs.1.57 Cr.
