A year ago fans were convinced that the year 2020 is going to be the best year for the Bollywood industry but what happened was the opposite of our expectation. 2020 was a year full of surprises and bad news. It is hand down the year we all were delighted to say goodbye to. However, amidst the chaos, there were the OTT platforms that helped us survive the lockdown. This year the OTT platforms released some of the best content that made us forget lockdown blues. Here is the list of best OTT movies that saw their debut this year.

Ludo: Written and directed by Anurag Basu, Ludo’s delivered an engaging movie. Anurag aced writing and direction and the cast did an exceptionally great job. The story revolves around a don and how his actions affect the lives of other characters.

Gulabo Sitabo: The movie was meant for a theatrical release but the pandemic made it release on Amazon Prime Video. The quirky family film was written by Juhi Chaturvedi and the Jodi of Ayushmaan Khuranna and Amitabh Bachchan added more stars to its success. This is one of the best movies released in 2020.

Dil Bechara: Dil Bechara is the Hindi adaptation of “Fault in our stars” by American author John Green. Mukesh Chhabra directed this movie starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi. This was a romantic comedy movie which was premiered on 24th July on Disney+ Hotstar.

Raat Akeli Hai: Raat Akeli Hai is one of the best murder mystery Bollywood has ever seen. The film revolves around a high profile murder case. Honey Trehan has directed this film. The movie has Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Radhika Apte, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Shweta Tripathi, Shivani Raghuvanshi, Nishant Dahiya, Ila Arun, Swanand Kirkire, and Aditya Srivastava in the cast. The movie was released on 31st July on NETFLIX.

Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl: Gunjan Saxena was also one of the best movies of 2020. The movie sheds light on the life of India’s first female airforce pilot. In the movie, Janhvi Kapoor was seen playing the role of Gunjan Saxena and Panjak Tripathi played the role of Gunjan’s father. This amazing biopic was produced by Dharma Production. Netflix dropped this movie on 12th August.

Shakuntala Devi: This is another amazing biopic film. This movie highlights the life of Shakuntala Devi also known as a human-computer who could solve any complex mathematics calculation within seconds. This movie stars Vidya Balan as Shakuntala Devi and also features Sanya Malhotra. Anu Menon has directed this biopic. This is exciting for all of us to see Vidya Balan again in action.

Bulbbul: Bulbbul, directed by debutant director Anvita Dutt and produced by Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma tells the story of a precocious girl. Tripti Damri wonderfully portrayed the role of Bulbbul. She even won the Flyx Filmfare Award for Best Actor, Web Original Film.
