June 3 is their wedding anniversary. This year, the legendary couple has completed 48 years of togetherness as a loving and happily married couple. The man with the Midas touch and the lady with the essence of demure personality makes a perfect loving couple and their love story filled with twists and turns set new parameter of love, caring, affection, bonding, and understanding. This story is the poster of love at first sight. In this love story, the first one to fall in love was Jaya Bachchan who saw Amitabh Bachchan before he became a superstar. She fell for him while shooting for 'Ek Nazar' and they were introduced on the sets of 'Guddi'.
However, the couple after a long time collaborated again in the 1973 release Zanjeer and while the movie turned out to be a massive hit, the team decided to celebrate the success by taking a trip to London. While the team was planning to leave the country, Amitabh’s father dismissed the idea saying that he can’t go out with Jaya trip unless he marries her.
It was a big decision but Big B didn’t hesitate to take the big step. He didn’t think twice and proposed marriage to Jaya and asked her parents. The couple tied the knot on June 3, 1973, then traveled to London together on the same day.
Soon the couple welcomed their first baby and became the proud parents of daughter Shweta Bachchan who was born in 1974.
Three years after the birth of Shweta, the younger son of Bachchan duo, Abhishek Bachchan was born and their family was completed.
After getting married, Jaya Bachchan worked for a few more years and then decided to quit films to look after her family.
During this long journey, many moments came when the rumors of Amitabh Bachchan’s affair with the co-actor became the talk of the town.
