Netflix comes up with a huge list of original shows in several languages every month each year, covering almost every possible genre and 2020 was no exception, despite the lockdown restrictions in place. In fact, this year Netflix brought along amazing content, with some shows surpassing all expectations of viewers. From installments of existing hit shows to brand new originals, here's a compiled list of 10 of the most watched Netflix shows in 2020, including diverse genres :

Emily in Paris: Set in the aesthetic lanes and landmarks of Paris, Emily in Paris, follows the journey of Emily Cooper, played by Lily Collins, a Chicago marketing executive who is hired at a marketing firm in Paris and how she navigates her new life, job and love alongside social media, making for both hilarious and heartwarming sequences.

Never Have I Ever: Never Have I Ever, stars Maitreyi Ramakrishna as Devi, an Indian-American teenager, dealing with the trauma of her dad's passing away while trying to uplift her social status in highschool by getting a boyfriend. Narrated by tennis player, John McEnroe, this unique chick-flick portrays a coming of age story in a different light.

Outer Banks: An action-adventure mystery teen drama, Outer Banks, follows the story of John B, played by Chase Stokes, a teenager who enlists the help of three of his best friends on a quest to find a legendary treasure linked to his father's disappearance. The first season was praised for his unique mystery plot and the show has been renewed for a Season 2.

Sex Education Season-2 : The second season of this critically appraised teenage drama, explores further the equations of students at Moorfield Secondary School with each other, while each one of them deals with individual problems pertaining to love, attraction and sexuality. Despite being fun and hilarious, the show delves deeper into sensitive teenager issues, shedding light on them.

Queen's Gambit : Anya Taylor Joy as Elizabeth Harmon, in this historical drama based mini-series, is an orphaned chess prodigy, rising to the top of the chess world, while having to struggle with emotional issues, drug problems and alcohol dependency. Set in the 1950s-60s, Elizabeth's quest to become the greatest chess player, has made the show break viewing records.

Dash & Lily :The perfect holiday binge-worthy watch, this rom-com series follows two teenagers, Dash, played by Austin Abrams and Lily, played by Midori Francis, who come from completely different worlds but bond over a diary. They keep on passing this diary filled with dreams, desires and dares back and forth at locations around New York City, in hopes of finding true love around Christmas.

Money Heist Part-4 : Part 4 of the Spanish crime thriller, Money Heist, follows eight robbers and The Professor breaking down the suspense of the previous season and taking the story further with even more twists and thrills, keeping the viewers hooked. This part ends with much more suspense and hence, Netflix decided to renew the series for its fifth and final part.

The Haunting of Bly Manor : The second entry in The Haunting anthology series, The Haunting of Bly Manor, tells the story of a young governess, Dani Clayton, hired by a man to look after his nephew and niece at the family country house, Bly Manor. As Dani arrives at the estate, she begins to see apparitions that proceed to haunt the premises, in an eerie yet beautiful storytelling.

The Umbrella Academy 2: A superhero show based on the comic book series of the same name, second season of The Umbrella Academy, takes the story of the estranged siblings with extraordinary superpowers ahead, as a threat to humanity looms above. This show has outdone itself in the second installment and desperate fans can't wait for season-3.
