The fear is in the heart. The whole world is in fear and crestfallen after the death of Punjabi rapper and singer Sidhu Moose Wala. The Punjabi music artist turned Congress leader was shot dead in the broad daylight. The 29-year-old artist was assassinated in his own village Mansa. But this is not the first time when an artist or celebrity was murdered. There is no denying that the death of a celebrity can leave you stunned but the murder of a celebrity can make life in the light of fear. From Tupac to XXXTentacion, here we revisit the death of 10 global actors and musicians who were tragically shot dead:
1. Tupac Shakur: One of the most influential and celebrated rappers in the global hip-hop scene, Tupac Shakur was shot four times on September 7, 1996. The rapper was returning from a boxing match with his friend when he was assassinated. After his assassination, he kept fighting in the hospital for 6 days and finally took his last breath at the age of 25.
2. Sidhu Moose Wala: The artist who truly marked the Punjabi scene on the global level, Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead in his own village Mansa in Punjab. On 29, May 2022, He was on the wheel in Mahindra Thar SUV when the assailants, believed to be 10-12, fired more than 20 rounds at point-blank range at the singer.
3. XXXTentacion: Born as Jahseh Onfroym, XXXTentacion was shot and killed in an apparent robbery on June 18, 2018. The global artist was just 20 years old when he was shot multiple times by two men after he left a motor crop store in Florida.
4. Nicole Brown Simpson: widely celebrated actress Nicole Brown Simpson was murdered on June 13, 1994. The trial of her murder case is known as the trial of the century. The actress and her friend Ron Goldman both were stabbed to death and then left drowning in the pool. Brown’s husband, O.J. Simpson, was the primary suspect in the murder but he was acquitted of all charges.
5. Sam Cooke: Singer Sam Cooke was shot and murdered on December 11, 1964, by a hotel manager named Bertha Franklin. In the trial of his case, his murder was sentenced justiciable as his murder Frankin claimed Cooke had threatened her life after attempting to rape a young woman who had accompanied him to the motel.
6. Marvin Gaye: One of the most skilled singers of his time, Marvin Gaye was killed by his father after he tried to solve a fight between his father and mother. He was shot twice in their house in California and was pronounced dead on arrival at the California Hospital Medical Center on 1st April 1984.
7. Natalie Wood: Actress Natalie Wood’s body was found in the Pacific Ocean on November 29, 1981, after a boat trip to Catalina Island on board her husband Robert Wagner's yacht. Though her cause of death was declared an “accidental drowning,” many suspect she was murdered because the autopsy report revealed she had bruises on her body and a cut on her left cheek.
8. John Lennon: One of the most surprising and biggest fan murders, John Lennon was killed on December 8, 1980. The Beetle singer was shot four times by a troubled man named John David Chapman, right outside, John’s New York house.
9. Christina Grimmie: Singer and former The Voice contestant Christina Grimmie’s life was cut short on June 10, 2016, after an obsessed fan named Kevin James Loibl murdered her. She was 22. As she signed autographs inside of The Plaza Live in Orlando, Florida, he pulled out a gun and shot her three times — once in the head and twice in the chest.
10. Selena: Unfortunately, Selena was shot in the shoulder at an inn by the president of her fan club over financial differences, and while Selena was able to escape, she was able to give the lobby clerk the name of the assailant, and the room her shooter, but the loss of blood led to her death on the way to the hospital.
