Savitri Jindal, the world's seventh-richest mother, is also a homemaker and the matriarch of the Jindal family, which controls the Jindal group. She is the mother of nine children. She has had a successful career both as a politician as well as a social activist.

Savitri Devi Jindal is a leading Indian businesswoman who is presently the Chairperson Emeritus of OP Jindal Group. She also serves as the president of Agroha's Maharaja Agrasen Medical College. Savitri Jindal is the richest woman in India and  she was ranked as the 19th richest Indian in 2020 by The Forbes magazine.

Savitri Jindal was born in Tinsukia, Assam, and married Om Prakash Jindal, the founder of the Jindal Group, a steel and energy giant, in the 1970s.

She was a member of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha (Legislative Assembly) for two terms. Jindal was elected to the state assembly in 2005 on the Congress ticket from the Hisar constituency, which had previously been held by her late husband Om Prakash Jindal. She was re-elected to the constituency in 2009. In 2006, she was inducted as a minister of state in the Haryana government headed by chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. In 2013, she was once again inducted into Hooda government, but this time as a Cabinet minister. She lost the 2014 assembly elections from Hisar.

O.P. Jindal, an engineer by profession, founded the O.P. Jindal Group in 1952. It grew into a steel, power, mining, oil, and gas behemoth. Her four sons, Prithviraj, Sajjan, Ratan, and Naveen Jindal, are in charge of each of the four divisions of her firm. Jindal Steels is India's third-largest steel producer. O P Jindal's ascent to the top was inspirational, considering he began his career in 1952 as a bucket manufacturer. The group grew into a multibillion-dollar corporation with interests in mining, power generating, energy, and port operations.

Savitri is not a self-made billionaire, but she has served as the chairperson of India's largest steel maker, the Jindal Group, for the past 14 years.
