FBI director Christopher Wray on Wednesday informed agency staff that he intends to leave office at the end of President Joe Biden's administration. This would pave the way for a hassle free handover to Kashyap “Kash” Patel, if confirmed by President-elect Donald Trump to lead the investigating body.
And thus, the best way to prevent having the bureau embroiled in the quagmire at all, in the hopes of reinforcing the way of working which is some of the most fundamental in the bureau, Wray said at a town hall for the staff of the FBI, included ".the decision to keep serving in the remainder of the current administration term ending in January, then at that point step down.
Three years remain of Wray’s 10-year tenure, but his position at the agency became untenable after Trump signalled his desire for him to leave by naming Patel his nominee.
The president-elect has not asked Wray to step down and did not indicate whether he would fire Wray after assuming the office on January 20.He, however, made it abundantly clear that he was irked with the Wray.

Under Christopher Wray's direction, the FBI illegally swept my home, acting without reason, meticulously built a case to illegally impeach and charge me, and in every other way has tried to sabotage the success and the destiny of the United States.
They have also applied their enormous strength to intimidate and kill innocent Americans, some of which will perish in ways that they could never be redeemed from.
In an interview to NBC News that aired on Sunday Trump said of Wary, “He invaded Mar-a-Lago. “I’m very unhappy with the things he’s done.”
Wray was appointed FBI director by Trump in his first term taking over the agency from Jim Comey. Led by Wray, the FBI conducted multiple investigations to target Trump, and also raided Trump's Florida residence in connection with the classified documents he should have filed for archives but instead took with him.
The agency also examined Trump in relation to broad efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results.
Wray's FBI also focused on President Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden for gun law violations and tax evasion.
