Shehbaz Sharif, who led the Pakistan Democratic Movement coalition government from April 2022 to August 2023 after ousting his predecessor Imran Khan from office in a no-confidence vote in Parliament, is now setting the platform for the return of his elder brother Nawaz Sharif to Pakistan through a heroic welcome. 

There are many factors that have been the result of a bad economic performance of the Shehbaz Sharif government, which took up the leftover baggage of economic distress by ousting former Prime Minister Imran Khan and struggled to handle the outburst of financial spillover impact. 

Shehbaz Sharif had assumed office on April 11, 2022 after ousting his predecessor Imran Khan through a no-confidence vote, which was tailored via political maneuvering of the then opposition parties that formed the PDM coalition. Shehbaz emerged as a statesman, whose premiership was a result of a mutual agreement between major political parties, including Pakistan People Party (PPP).

Prime Minister Sharif will send a written summary to President Arif Alvi for approval of the dissolution.

The five-year term of the National Assembly commenced under the then-PTI government on August 12, 2018 and is set to be completed under a PM-Shehbaz-led ruling coalition.

A notification in this regard has been issued by the Prime Minister's Office. "Pursuant to the meeting held on Friday with regard to attracting investment from GCC countries in the fields of defence, agriculture, minerals, IT and energy, the Prime Minister is pleased to constitute a Special Investment Facilitation Council," the notification read.

The Army chief made these remarks during a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday, Geo News reported. The huddle unveiled an elaborate 'Economic Revival Plan' in the wake of economic hardships being confronted by the country, an official statement issued by the PM's Office said.
