In her plea, Azad asserted that her arrest was against Article 22(1) as she was not allowed to consult her chosen legal practitioner during the remand application proceeding on December 21. She alleged that she was produced after 29 hours, contrary to legal provisions.

The incident occurred on December 13, the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack, where five people were involved in orchestrating the security breach within the Lok Sabha.

The accused—Sagar Sharma, Manoranjan D., Neelam Azad, and Amol Shinde—appeared before Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Hardeep Kaur at the Patiala House Courts.

The accused allegedly formed a WhatsApp group to meticulously plan and coordinate their strategy leading up to the breach. CCTV footage captured the entire incident, negating the need for a recreation of the crime scene. The footage is being carefully examined, and the accused have been questioned based on this evidence.

The judge reserved the order, with Azad's plea citing the denial of FIR access and restrictions on meeting the family, alleging harassment and seeking the court's intervention to uphold procedural rights and Constitutional principles.

Stressing the critical role of Parliament in shaping the nation's future, the plea underscores the jeopardy faced by both the institution and citizens.

Jha's online content, including a post in October, expressing discontent and controversial statements, has raised concerns. The Special Cell plans to question Nilakkha Aich in West Bengal, linked to an NGO.
