Leading the charge, R. Ashoka, the Leader of the Opposition, led a protest march from the State Legislators’ House to the Vidhana Soudha, criticizing the Congress government for its perceived lack of seriousness in addressing the issue.

"We (the government) approved an ordinance on signboards. The Governor has sent it back saying it should be passed in the Assembly. He could have given his assent now. Giving protection and respect to Kannada is our government’s commitment," Shivakumar stated.

The PDO, however, allowed the hoisting of the Hanuman flag and failed to take appropriate measures for its removal.

The incident has spurred a political clash, with the opposition BJP-JD(S) challenging the Congress government over the removal of the "Hanuman Dhwaja." Police had to resort to mild lathi charge on Sunday to control the agitated crowd, raising the Tricolour in place of the saffron flag.

While the CM Siddaramaiah-led state cabinet retracted consent for a CBI inquiry against Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar in a DA case, signs of internal strife emerged within the grand old party.

This decision has sparked concerns of potential conflict, with the opposition BJP hinting at unrest in the coming days. Academic experts anticipate that numerous Muslim girls, previously restricted from attending schools and colleges, will now have the opportunity to pursue their studies.

Highlighting his commitment to social justice for all communities, Shivakumar endorsed the Congress's initiative and reaffirmed his role as a leader representing OBC communities.
