Ford recalling 125K vehicles that could catch fire

All the vehicles being recalled are hybrid or plug-in hybrid versions, plus all three models share similar engineering, reports CNN.In a filing with the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA),Ford stated that due to a manufacturing problem, the 2.5-litre gasoline engines can leak engine oil or gasoline vapour that can catch fire when they come into contact with hot parts in the engine compartment.
Ford halts production, shipments of electric truck due to battery issue

The company issued a nationwide "stop shipment" order to hold F-150 Lightnings while a potential battery issue is investigated, reports Electrek. "As part of our pre-delivery quality inspections, a vehicle displayed a potential battery issue and we are holding vehicles while we investigate," the company said in a statement.
Ford sells majority stake in EV startup Rivian

The shares of the EV maker have been dropping steadily since May 2022, and are now at 1.15 per cent, or 10.5 million shares, reports TechCrunch. The report also said that the sell comes just a week after Ford disclosed a $7.3 billion write-down on its Rivian investment last year. Rivian's stock has fallen almost 70 per cent since February 2022.
Ford, Volkswagen-backed driverless startup Argo AI to shut down

As reported by TechCrunch, Argo AI employees were told during an all-hands meeting on Wednesday that some would receive offers from the two automakers. "In coordination with our shareholders, the decision has been made that Argo AI will not continue on its mission as a company. Many of the employees will receive an opportunity to continue work on automated driving technology with either Ford or Volkswagen, while employment for others will unfortunately come to an end," Argo was quoted as saying.
Ford confirms to layoff 3,000 staff in US, India: Report

According to The Wall Street Journal, Ford sent an internal email to employees, saying it would begin notifying affected salaried and agency workers this week of the cuts. About 2,000 of the targeted cuts will be salaried jobs at Dearborn, Michigan. The remaining 1,000 employees are working in contract positions with outside agencies, the company said.

Ford India to sell its Gujarat plant for Rs 725.7 cr to Tatas

In a regulatory filing on Sunday, Tata Motors - the parent of Tata Passenger Electric - said the Ford India's plant in Sanand in Gujarat includes (i) entire land & buildings; (ii) Vehicle Manufacturing Plant along with machinery and equipment situated and (iii) transfer of all eligible employees of Ford India's vehicle manufacturing operations. The Ford India will continue to operate its powertrain manufacturing facility by leasing back the land and buildings of the powertrain manufacturing plant from Tata Passenger Electric.

On Thursday, Hyundai Motor India announced the signing of a wage agreement with United Union of Hyundai Employees (UUHE). The wage agreement will be effective from 1.4.2021 and valid till 31.3.2024 with handsome wage hike. "Hyundai Motors is a running company. Ours is on the verge of closing," said a worker at Ford India Pvt Ltd's plant near here.
