Chaos at Delhi hospitals as resident doctors shut OPD counters

The protesting doctors had called for a total shutdown of the medical services in the hospitals after the police action on Monday. The doctors are demanding an apology for the action taken by the Delhi Police against them. The Centre-run Safdarjung Hospital, which has been the epicenter of the ongoing stir, witnessed chaos as the OPD counters remained shut.
Five state assembly polls unlikely to be postponed

The commission has asked the government to vaccinate all those on election duty ahead of the polls. Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan submitted a report to the commission according to which the assembly polls in Manipur, Goa, Punjab, Uttarakhand and UP are likely to be held at the scheduled time as mandated by the Constitution. The assembly tenure of UP is due to end in May.
Delhi logs 331 new Covid cases, positivity rate jumps to 0.68%

The new cases and fatality took the infection tally to 14,43,683, and the death toll to 25,106, while the Covid positivity rate rose to 0.68 per cent - the highest since June 2 when it was 0.78 per cent. The number of active Covid cases have also crossed the 1,000 mark in the city and currently stand at 1,289, the highest in the last 6 months.
Election Commission to discuss Covid situation with top health officials

A source said that the Commission will discuss the current Covid situation for poll-bound states and will seek update on new Covid variant Omicron from Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan. The commission is also likely to seek suggestions on improving the Covid protocol for poll campaigning, polling days, and others.
Delhi to re-impose night curfew amid rising Covid cases

The curfew will be imposed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Delhi on Sunday recorded 290 fresh Covid infection which is highest single day rise after June 10. According to the Health Department, the city had recorded 305 Covid cases on June 10.
Flight operations normal despite low visibility: Delhi airport

"Low visibility procedures are in progress at Delhi Airport. All flight operations are presently normal," the Delhi airport said in a passenger advisory. Low Visibility Procedures are the actions to ensure the safe operation of aircraft during periods of reduced visibility or low cloud base. The airport authorities further requested all passengers to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information.
Rs 1.54 cr collected as fine for flouting Covid norms in Delhi

In addition to the fine, 163 FIRs have been registered too with 1,245 violations being recorded in East Delhi and 1,446 in North, while 7,778 were found flouting Covid-19 guidelines by not wearing masks, not following physical distance and crowding an area. According to the officials, the total amount of fine imposed on Wednesday and Thursday was one of the highest in recent weeks.
Omicron scare: Night curfew to come into effect in Noida from tonight

The order will remain in force from December 25 to January 31, 2022. Earlier on December 1, Section 144 was clamped down and restrictions were imposed over fears of spread of Covid-19 during the festival season. "During the said period, there will be several competitive examinations for which the administration has to make preparations to smoothly conduct them," Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ashutosh Dwivedi, said .
