Sri Lanka mull postponing West Indies tour as Mickey Arthur, Lahiru Thirimanne test Covid-19 positive

The Sri Lanka cricketers had commenced practice on January 28 with the 36-member group of players divided into three groups to train at different time periods as a precautionary health measure. Immediately upon testing positive for the coronavirus, both Arthur and Thirimanne were directed to follow Sri Lankan government's health protocol on Covid-19.

"Till it happens I won't believe it. Last eight months have been just as crazy and we have been made a mere promise and something like that (fans returning) hasn't come off. So, till I actually see the fans walk in, I won't believe it," Archer told reporters on Tuesday. Earlier, TNCA had announced that 50 per cent occupancy will be allowed in the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has given the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) an informal approval to allow 50 per cent of the stadium to be filled in accordance with the Sports Ministry's guidelines, according to ESPNCricinfo.
