The ED, advocating for Singh's 14-day judicial custody, contends that he functioned as a cash handler for the Aam Aadmi Party during the Goa elections, allegedly receiving around Rs 45 crore in cash via hawala operators. These funds were purportedly disbursed to various stakeholders, including vendors, survey workers, and volunteers involved in the AAP campaign in Goa. Singh's arrest under Section 19 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) on April 13 marked a significant development in the ongoing investigation.

Representing the ED, special counsel Zoheb Hossain highlighted the apparent contradiction in Kejriwal's actions, noting that while he claims to suffer from high sugar levels, he continues to consume items such as mangoes and sweets while incarcerated. Kejriwal, currently in judicial custody until April 23 due to his alleged involvement in the excise policy case, has been accused by the ED of consciously ingesting foods known to spike blood sugar levels, despite being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.

Judge Rakesh Syal of Rouse Avenue Court instructed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to submit a response to the application and scheduled the hearing for April 18.

According to Mann, "Kejriwal is being subjected to treatment reminiscent of terrorists by the jail authorities. He is being deprived of even the most basic facilities. During our meeting, there was a glass barrier between us."

A bench comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta will deliberate on the issue.

Puri expressed, "His persistence as the CM while being incarcerated reflects sheer shamelessness. It's about time he resigns and allows someone else to helm the administration in Delhi."

The arrest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21, in connection with a money-laundering case related to the now-defunct Delhi excise policy, prompted the Lieutenant Governor to call for discussions on the governance of the city. However, the ministers declined the invitation citing the presence of the model code of conduct.
