Adani's world's biggest coal basin heads for export amid protests

Coal giant Adani is commencing its first exports of coal from the Carmichael mine. Adani says the first coal for export is "being assembled" at its coal port in Bowen, the North Queensland Export Terminal. Adani plans for the mine to be Australia's biggest, but has faced 10 years of opposition from Wangan and Jagalingou traditional owners and climate campaigners.

This airport, which was declared as the fifth international airport in the country in 1991, will now be run by the Adani Group for the next five decades. In February 2019, the financial bid for privatising five airports in the country was opened and it was won by Adani Enterprises. The other airports that the Adani firm got are situated in Mangaluru, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Jaipur.

Amid protests, Adani Group takes over Guwahati international airport for 50 years

Airports Authority of India (AAI) officials said that the LGBI Airport was on Friday formally handed over to AGIAL led by business tycoon Gautam Adani in a restricted ceremony. Airport director Ramesh Kumar handed over a symbolic key to Utpal Baruah, who has been appointed Chief Airport Officer by the AGIAL.

Earlier, it was a 80:20 joint venture between Japan-based SoftBank Group Corp and Bharti Group.The transaction pegs SB Energy India at an enterprise valuation of USD 3.5 Billion (Rs 26,000 crore) and marks the largest acquisition in the renewable energy sector in India.

The over $700 million deal, which was struck in Colombo with the Indian partners joining virtually, is to run for 35 years with the Adani Group having majority 51 per cent share, followed by John Keels (34 per cent) and SLPA (15 per cent). Following a 2019 tripartite agreement with India and Japan, the Adani Group was to develop the East Container Terminal (ECT) jointly with Japan.
