Elon Musk has allegedly cut more employees on his X social media as the business magnate said to be busy campaigning for Donald Trump in the hotly-contested US presidential election on November 5.
According to The Verge, a new layoff round has hit X, with the main sufferer being its engineering group, sources inside X revealed, referring to posts from workplace forum Blind.
"The extent of the layoffs is unclear. It comes two months after the employees were made to fill out a one-page sheet detailing their achievements at work to leadership, the report said.
Musk or X had not responded to this report.
Last month, the tech tycoon reportedly sent an email to the X staff regarding the stock grants they were awaiting-all with a condition attached to it.
In an email to staff seen by The Verge, the social media platform planned to award stock options based on the anticipated impact of employees.
"That means staff have to submit a one-page summary telling leadership their contributions to the company in order to get their stock," the report said.
With how the company continues to struggle under Musk's ownership, employees have been bracing for more layoffs.
Musk bought X (previously known as Twitter) in 2022 and fired over 6,000 employees-about 80 per cent of the company's workforce.
The employees were required to justify why they needed to be there, and even determine whether their colleagues were worth keeping around.
The departments that got the axe included diversity and inclusion teams, product development, and design. Not even, Twitter's content moderation team was spared.
According to reports, X has dismissed 1,000 employees this January of its 'safety' staff who were responsible for blocking abusive content online. Out of them, 80 percent were software engineers, which was focused on "trust and safety issues."
