Last year, Djokovic defended his Turin title after defeating Jannik Sinner in the final. He first claimed the season finale title back in 2008 when the event was still known as the Tennis Masters Cup.

Last month, Djokovic withdrew from the Paris Masters, where he has won seven of his record 40 ATP Masters 1000 titles. His last appearance was at the Shanghai Masters where he went down to world number one Sinner in a summit clash and missed out on his 100th title at the tour level.
