According to Consumer Reports, a non-profit consumer research and advocacy organisation, which selects the year's top models from hundreds of current models, Tesla has dominated the electric vehicle category, with the Model 3 holding the EV Top Pick title for the past two years. But now the Ford Mustang Mach-E has earned honour-based on road-test score, predicted reliability, owner satisfaction, and safety.

The sedan will be based on Volkswagen’s MQB A0 IN (Modularer QuerBaukasten/ Modular Transversal Toolkit) platform which has a transverse, front-engine, front-wheel-drive/all-wheel-drive layout. The same platform has been employed by Volkswagen Taigun. After it is launched in the market it will replace Vento, as per media reports. VW Vento was the company’s first mid-sized sedan in India.

According to the company, Carens is offered in 19 variants with prices ranging from Rs 8.99 lakh to Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). The model is available in five trims, three engine options and three transmission options. So far, the company has received 19,089 bookings for the car in over a month since the bookings opened on January 14.
