Tarun Chugh Commends PM Modi and Criticizes Opposition, Five Languages Awarded Classical Status

While criticising the West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee who has expressed her anguish over who should take credit for the Centre conferring classical language status to five languages, BJP leader Tarun Chugh observed that despite being in power for decades, she did nothing in this direction.

"They did not take any initiative to take the words further, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the initiative and added these five ancient languages to the list of classical languages," the BJP leader said, referring to it as a welcome step.

The Congress leader alleged that the move has been done in the wake of Maharashtra elections. He was trolled by BJP, which said that when these leaders had a chance, they worked to suppress these languages.

The central government led by Narendra Modi has made clear its intention to secure the languages of India, Sanatan Dharma, and culture. It will open new avenues before the country's youth in the field of languages and also provide greater employment opportunities in the related field, said the BJP leader.

Those falling prey to the credit debate said Tarun Chugh they have lost their opportunity to do anything and worked to stall such efforts. He told them to welcome this as a great opportunity for the nation and thank and support Prime Minister Modi, instead of getting entangled in a credit war.

The Union Cabinet led by PM Modi on Thursday conferred the status of classical language to the Marathi, Pali, Prakrit, Assamese, and Bengali languages.

Before this, on Thursday during the day, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee posted on X, "Extremely happy to share that Bengali/ Bangla has finally been accorded the status of a classical language by Government of India.

She further added, "We had been trying to snatch this recognition from the Ministry of Culture, GOI, and we had submitted three volumes of research findings in favor of our contention. The Union government accepted our well-researched claim today evening and we finally reached the cultural apex in the body of languages in India.
