The first 100 days of work by the government is a reflection of speed and scale and a testimony to what it stands for, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Monday, adding that 140 crore citizens are working with the resolve of making India the third-largest economy in the world.
Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the fourth Global Renewable Energy Investors' Meet and Expo here today, stating that in these 100 days, multiple decisions had been taken to increase the physical and social infrastructure of the nation.
India is on the way to building seven crore houses which is more than the population of many countries, while four crore houses have been distributed among the people in the last two terms," the PM told the gathering.
PM Modi said that the decisions made included the inclusion of 12 new industrial cities, giving the go-ahead for 8 high-speed road corridor projects, and initiating over 15 semi-high speed Vande Bharat trains. He also announced multiple initiatives on e-mobility, promoting high-performance biomanufacturing, as well as approval to Bio E3 policy.
"Aspirations of India is the reason behind the re-election of the government for the third term," PM Modi remarked.
Underlining various developments in the green energy sector of the last 100 days, PM mentioned about launching a viability gap funding scheme of more than Rs 7,000 crore for offshore wind energy projects.
PM Modi said the country is working towards producing 31,000 megawatt hydropower in coming times with an outlay of Rs 12,000 crore.
"India's diversity, scale, capacity, potential and performance are all unique and pave the way for Indian solutions for global applications. Not just India, the whole world is of the belief that India is the best bet of the 21st century," the Prime Minister stated.
The Prime Minister said that today's India is preparing a base not only for today but for the next thousand years. "Today's India is a developing economy and, therefore, had a valid excuse to stay out of these commitments but did not take that route.
The country very well understands its energy needs and requirements that can make it a developed nation by 2047, said PM Modi. Adding further, he said India had decided to build its future on the basis of renewables like solar power, wind power, nuclear, and hydropower as there was a dearth of reserves of oil-gas.
The nation's ambition to achieve the goal of becoming a 500 GW renewable energy country by 2030 was revealed by PM Modi. India is the first G20 nation to meet the commitments towards climate set in the Paris agreement, and that too nine years ahead of schedule.
'Make in India, Repair, Reuse and Recycle' under 'PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme' turn a house into a power producer.
Under the scheme, more than 1.30 crore families have registered, and installation work has been completed in 3.25 lakh houses so far, PM Modi added.
