Bengal becoming 'leading global supplier of jihadis' under Mamata regime, says Amit Malviya

"With Mamata Banerjee at the helm, Bengal has already turned into a safe haven for infiltrators and jihadis – and now it is rapidly becoming a top export destination for sending jihadis worldwide!" Malviya penned in a post posted on his official X page.

BJP leader Amit Malviya on Tuesday made some serious charges against the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government of West Bengal, claiming that the state is rapidly turning into a key exporter of jihadis under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Quoting recent news reports, Malviya referred to a massive fake birth certificate racket busted in Pathankhali in the Gosaba block of South 24 Parganas district. The BJP leader said one Gautam Sardar, a contractual staffer, used the credentials of a local panchayat head of a village to generate more than 4,000 fake birth certificates between 2021 and 2025.

Malviya accused these fake certificates being issued to Bangladesh nationals with jihadi connections, giving them an easy route to Indian citizenship. "The certificates were being sold to jihadis from Bangladesh, providing them a straight highway to Indian citizenship, and allowing them to get Indian passports and migrate to Italy, Thailand, and the UAE," he alleged.

Investigating agencies looking into syndicates of high-value counterfeit passports in the state had previously established false birth certificates as the generic documents from which other Indian IDs would be created. During their investigations, they found a pattern of operation: intruders from Bangladesh were initially provided with safe housing in villages along the international border—land and sea. Afterwards, agents would purchase counterfeit ration cards and birth certificates, which were then used as the basis for other proof of identity.

These forged documents were utilized to obtain Indian voter ID cards (EPIC), PAN cards, and Aadhaar cards by infiltrators. These were eventually used to produce fake Indian passports.

Malviya emphasized that the case in Pathankhali was probably not an isolated one. "Imagine the extent of this rot if such operations were being conducted all over Bengal! In Mamata Banerjee's regime – where employment is in short supply and administration has broken down – she appears desperate to construct her crooked empire on the shoulders of illegal infiltrators. This is not corruption or governance. This is NATIONAL TREASON—Institutionalised," his post ended.
