Jim Farley: Know the CEO of Ford Motor Company

Farley has been associated with Ford for over 14 years. Jim Farley was also executive vice president of Global Marketing, Sales and Service, leading the company to connect more closely with customers through integrated global marketing, advertising, digital communications, brand development and research.

Farley was instrumental in setting Lincoln brand on a path for growth as a world-class provider of luxury vehicles and customer experience, including Lincoln’s introduction in China.

In 2016, he led Ford’s European operations and increased sales. From 2015 to 2017, he served as executive vice president and president, Ford Europe, Middle East and Africa.

From June 2017 to May 2019, Jim Farley served as Executive Vice President and president of Global Markets. For nearly a year, from May 2019 to February 2020, he served as president, New Business, Technology and Strategy.

In March 2020 he became the Chief Operating Officer at Ford and served for 7 months,till September 2020. Later in October 2020 he was assigned the role of Chief Executive Officer of Ford, succeeding Jim Hackett.

In July 2021, Farley was nominated to join the board of directors for Harley-Davidson by the company's CEO Jochen Zeitz in an effort to revitalize the motorcycle maker and prepare it for an electric future.

Jim Farley, born June 10, 1962 made his career in automobiles after getting inspired from his grandfather, who worked at  Henry Ford's River Rouge Plant in 1918. His father was a banker in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he spent his early years, before moving to Greenwich, Connecticut.

Farley did his schooling from Portsmouth Abbey School. In 1985 he completed his graduation from Georgetown University and holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics. In 1989 he received his management degree from the University of California. Farley is a cousin of Chris Farley, Kevin Farley, and John Farley.
