Lenna Tiwari was born on 9 March 1957 in Suburban Mumbai. She did her graduation from the University of Mumbai in B.Com and completed her Masters's from Boston University with Business Administration She later got married to the Managing Director of her company, Prashant. They have 2 children, a son and a daughter, Vilas Gandhi Tewari and Aneesha Gandhi Tewari, respectively. Prashant is an Indian Institute of Technology graduate and a mechanical engineer from Cornell.
A few lesser-known things about Leena is that she is an avid reader alongside being an author herself. She wrote the biographical book on her grandfather Vithal Gandhi in 2013 which was titled Beyond Pipes and Dreams.
