Industrialist Ratan Tata rejected "baseless rumors" he was in poor health on Monday while saying that he was doing well.
Several reports in the media claimed that the 86-year-old was taken to a hospital and admitted to an ICU after his blood pressure had dropped.
"They were routine check-ups and my age being advanced," said the former chairman of Tata Sons Group while dismissing the reports.
He said, "Thank you for thinking of me."
"I am aware of recent rumors about my health, and I'd like to assure all that these are completely false," Tata wrote in a post on the social media platform X.
"I am undergoing routine medical check-ups for my age and related medical conditions," he said in the statement.
The elderly further requested the media to avoid spreading false news.
"There is no cause for alarm," he said. "I am holding up well, and I ask that the public and media respect me by refraining from spreading misinformation," he added.
His health scare sent waves of concern across India with public figures, industry leaders and citizens extending their hopes and prayers for him to get back in form quickly. Social media has seen a flurry of messages expressing support, many of whom have underlined his role in the making of modern Indian business scenarios and how he now remained committed to philanthropic causes in his later years.
Ratan Tata remained the Chairperson of Tata Group conglomerate twice -- between 1991 and 2012 and then again from 2016 to 2017. Today, he is an influencer on social media and regularly shares heartwarming posts on animal rights, especially the cause of dogs. He had over 13 million followers on X and almost 10 million on Instagram. According to the 360 ONE Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2023, he is the 'most followed entrepreneur' in India.
