MoUs between Indian states and Amazon are contradicting Aatmanirbhar Bharat campaigns: CAIT

The CAIT also said that such agreements are a hindrance to the Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Vocal for Local campaigns launched by the Prime Minister of India. CAIT said that it will arrange a meeting and write to the chief ministers to discuss matters in this regard.

The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) on Sunday said that it is unfortunate and regrettable that numerous Indian states have entered into a memorandum of understandings (MOUs) with online retail giant Amazon for selling products of government agencies. The CAIT also said that such agreements are a hindrance to the Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Vocal for Local campaigns launched by the Prime Minister of India.

1. CAIT said that it will arrange a meeting and write to the chief ministers to discuss matters in this regard. It also said that it will hold protests in the states who fail to comply with their demands.

2. The traders' body has asked the Madhya Pradesh government to refrain from associating themselves with Amazon any further after the e-commerce giant's ganja supply racket was busted. CAIT has urged the MP government to cancel all its MOUs with Amazon,

3. CAIT's National President B.C. Bhartia and Secretary Praveen Khandelwal told IANS that Amazon is a known global law offender and it has also been penalized in several countries for malpractices. Their remarks further mentioned that the e-commerce platform continues to violate Indian laws & rules and is currently  facing investigation by the Enforcement Directorate and Competition Commission of India
